Surfing The Zambezi
The wave at rapid number 11 has been surfed for many years, but until now has been largely a well kept secret, with the tubing wave forming twice a season. Usually sometime in July as the river drops and late January as the river rises. This feature changes daily, forming a perfect a tube. Thezambezi.com organises transfers to and from the rapid at reasonable costs depending on the size of the group. Lifejackets are essential and available for hire. A guide for the first day is essential, porters are available to aid with carrying equipment. This wave is not for novices, however if one is used to handling a strong reef break will have no problem.
